Check out the fight in this LPGA golfer! Emotional moments go viral after fan ‘tattles’ on her

When faced with adversity LPGA golfer Lexi Thompson’s fighting spirit allowed her to stage an impressive comeback.

…and though coming up short in winning the first major tournament of the season, Thompson was still a winner in the eyes of the fans.

The difficulties began when Thompson, who was leading by three strokes at the time, was pulled aside by LPGA officials and told she was being given a four-stroke penalty for an incident that occurred a day earlier.

After being alerted by a TV viewer, officials were responding to an incident where Thompson placed her ball an inch away from its original position on the green after marking the spot with a coin, according to Fox News.

Down one stroke after the penalty, a gutsy Thompson fought back over the next four holes to force a sudden death playoff with So Yeon Ryu, but lost on the first hole, Fox News reported.

The LPGA released a statement afterwards:

Thompson gave an emotional interview with the Golf Channel after the tournament, thanking the fans for rallying behind her and saying she will learn from what was an honest mistake.

What a trooper!

It was all enough to prompt even committed liberal Piers Morgan to weigh in on what he thinks the “eagle-eyed” snitch should endure!
