Obama’s Evelyn Farkas needs an award for her effort to backtrack on ‘admitting’ Trump was spied on

Former Obama administration official Evelyn Farkas is grasping at straws after she stuck her foot in her mouth by seeming to admit President Trump’s transition team was spied on.

Weeks ago Farkas appeared to admit she was aware of officials spying on the transition team of President Trump.

And now she is blaming the Democrats current favorite scapegoat, Russia, for what she said.

“The dark campaign of fake news you know that’s still ongoing. We see even someone like myself get sweeped up in all of this, you know when people like me are speaking on behalf of process, people spin it to suit their needs and I think maybe the Russians may be behind such fake news today,” she told MSNBC’s Kate Snow.

But the Russians didn’t tell her to say that the Obama administration was told to “get as much information as you can” on the Trump team and to hide how they got it.

After Snow showed footage of White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer mentioning what Farkas said, which led to a heated back and forth with reporters, Farkas made more excuses.

“There’s a total distortion about what I said…I was outside of government. I had no access to intelligence on this whatsoever, but I was concerned because I knew how the Russians operate and I was reading these reports about them hacking into the elections then giving the information to Wikipedia,” she said.

One can assume she meant WikiLeaks, but the narrative is the same. Russians “hacked into the election.”

No one, not even the former Obama administration, has claimed Russia did anything to change anyone’s vote, but the left keeps pushing the idea that Russians hacked into the election.

Particularly when they find themselves in trouble.
