When did we step through the looking-glass to a place where it’s now offensive to defend Western civilization — see Christianity — over the perils of radical Islam?
With pearl-clutching Republicans quick to join in on the condemnation of Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, for what the liberal media has decreed to be “racially charged remarks,” lest they get the same, the congressman appeared on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” to offer a little context.
The controversy began when King tweeted a comment Sunday in support of Dutch politician Geert Wilders.
“Wilders understands that culture and demographics are our destiny,” he wrote, “We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies.”
King’s offering was in response to this tweet:

King stood by his remark, explaining to host Tucker Carlson Monday night that, other than Israel, the birth rate in “all of Western civilization,” first-world countries, as King explained, is now below the replacement rate of the overall population.
He said that “vacuum” in population growth is more and more being “filled by people who don’t believe in our values here in Western civilization.”
King also stressed that he was talking about culture, not race — Western civilization includes ALL races.
“A nation-state needs to have a sense of a common history and common culture,” he said.
The media eagerly manipulated Kings remark — in part because white supremacists seized on it, ascribing their own racial beliefs — because it fits the left’s narrative that all Republicans are racists.
Any number of Republican lawmakers tripped over themselves to convince the media otherwise, saying “diversity is our strength,” as Florida Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen said in a tweet.

Matching the liberal sentiment, Speaker Paul Ryan’s office said of King’s remark that the Wisconsin lawmaker “clearly disagrees and believes America’s long history of inclusiveness is one of its great strengths.”
Convinced of their sincerity, the media immediately abandoned the narrative – NOT!
