Seems standard are few and far between…
CNN’s Reza Aslan, a religious studies scholar, ate cooked human brain tissue while filming a Hindu cannibal sect in India and now finds himself the recipient of fierce criticism.
…not for eating a human brain, but for misrepresenting the Hindu religion.
Aslan pulled off the grisly feat during Sunday’s premiere of “Believer,” a new CNN documentary series about spirituality around the world.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, the only Hindu in Congress, denounced CNN in a long series of posts on Twitter.
“I am very disturbed that CNN is using its power and influence to increase people’s misunderstanding and fear of Hinduism,” Gabbard tweeted.

Aslon, a Muslim who teaches at the University of California at Riverside, according to the Washington Post, had no remorse for dining on the brain of a fellow human being, touting his action on Facebook.
“Want to know what a dead guy’s brain tastes like? Charcoal,” he wrote. “It was burnt to a crisp!”
University of San Francisco professor Vansee Juluri said the episode was “reckless, racist and dangerously anti-immigrant.”
“It is unbelievably callous and reckless of CNN to be pushing sensational and grotesque images of bearded brown men and their morbid and deathly religion at a time when the United States is living through a period of unprecedented concern and fear,” Juluri wrote in a piece on The Huffington Post.
The Washington Post reported that wealthy Indian American industrialist Shalabh Kumar tied the attack to Hindu Americans who voted for President Donald Trump.
Kumar, a strong financial supporter of Trump’s presidential campaign, took to Twitter to say, “Disgusting attack on Hindus for supporting @POTUS.”
I condemn @rezaaslan, CNN for airing Believer with fiction. Disgusting attack on Hindus for supporting @POTUS @stephenkbannon @newtgingrich

In a follow up tweet, Kumar said CNN “has no respect for Hindus” and called for a boycott of the network, which he characterized as the “Clinton News Network.”
CNN, Clinton News Network has no respect for Hundus. All Hindus worldwide should boycott CNN. @stevenmnuchin1 @stephenkbannon @jaredkushner

He also thanked Gabbard for her input and promised that the Republican Hindu Coalition is “planning to take major action.”
