As a member of President Donald Trump’s administration, Ben Carson was quick to discover that, even as a black man, he will be given no quarters by a hypersensitive media.
The new secretary of Housing and Urban Development was forced to explain calling slaves “immigrants” while addressing agency employees Monday.
Remarks that would result in all hell breaking loose, with a little help from those in the media set on destroying the Trump presidency.
“That’s what America is about. A land of dreams and opportunity,” Carson remarked. “There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. But they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great-grandsons, great-granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.”

Taking the lead from his boss, Carson cut out the middle man and took his message directly to the folks via social media to explain the obvious, that “slaves were forced here against their will.”
He said slavery and immigration are “different experiences” and stressed the demand for “the necessary progress towards an America that’s inclusive and provides access to equal opportunity for all” remains.
A position he alluded to during an interview on The Armstrong Williams radio show, saying: “Slaves came here as involuntary immigrants, but they still had the strength to hold on.”
Carson said of the hyperventilating press, “it’s really kind of sad what the media had deteriorated into.”
