World Wrestling Entertainment held its annual “Fastlane” event on Sunday and even though there was plenty of action in the ring, something in the audience got much of the attention on social media.
All throughout the event, in which Bill Goldberg won the WWE Universal Championship from opponent Kevin Owens, a sign held by one of the fans close to the ring that read “CNN is fake news” was prominently featured in several camera shots.
WWE encourages fans to bring signs to its events and features them on its television programs but it has also confiscated objectionable signs in the past.
But this sign was not taken from the fan, to the chagrin of many fans of the cable news network on social media.
Somebody needs to take that “CNN Is Fake News” sign from that fan.#WWEFastlane pic.twitter.com/4djg1yEOL9

Can someone go punch the guy with the “CNN is fake news” sign? No need for that crap on a WWE show. #WWEFastlane

And don’t forget to add racism.

But many more fans thought it was fantastic.

And regardless of your stance on CNN, it is ironic that someone watching fake fighting is calling anything fake.
It is important to note that Linda McMahon, who is the current administrator of the Small Business Administration for President Donald Trump, is the former CEO of the WWE.
Her husband, Vince McMahon is the company’s current chairman, their daughter Stephanie McMahon is Chief Brand Officer and her husband Paul “Triple H” Levesque is WWE’s Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative.
President Trump is also a WWE Hall of Famer whose casino’s hosted two WrestleMania events and who participated in one where he managed a wrestler against a wrestler managed by Vince McMahon.
The stipulation of that match was that whoever’s wrestler was defeated, the manager had to have their head shaved.
Watch that match, and the president’s WWE Hall of Fame speech, via WWE.
You can watch a collection of President Trump’s major moments with WWE on its website.
