In the most under-reported story in America, Trump breaks bread with media, and it’s hardly hostile

President Donald Trump pushed back this week against the left’s narrative that he called the media the “enemy of the people,” saying he was talking about “fake news” being the enemy.

…but his actions may do more to expose his true feelings toward the media than his words.

In what may be the most under-reported story this week, 18 local reporters from six stations around the country broke bread with President Donald Trump Monday at the White House, the night before his joint-address to Congress, according to Adweek.

More from Adweek:

The White House reached out to several stations ahead of the president’s address to Congress Tuesday as a way to reach voters who supported Trump. At the dinner Monday night, anchors and reporters from markets including Boston, Atlanta, Milwaukee, Des Moines, Toledo, Lexington, and Tampa dined with Donald and Melania Trump as well as chief of staff Reince Priebus.

In addition to Priebus, senior aide Kellyanne Conway and White House press secretary Sean Spicer were also in attendance.

Bill Bryant, an anchor for WKYT, was one of the journalists who attended the dinner that the Lexington, Kentucky CBS affiliate described as “an effort to sell his national agenda ahead of his first budget address.”

“The White House says it’s the first time local political reporters and anchors from around the country were brought in for a dinner with the President,” Bryant said.

The Trump White House went all out to accommodate the invited guests.

ABC affiliate WTVG, based in Toledo, Ohio, reported that the dinner was held in the state dining room and that Vice President Mike Pence “came in first and welcomed the reporters followed by President Trump who greeted each reporter and thanked them for coming.”

Bryant posted a photo on Twitter with Diane Larson (center) from WTVG and Gray TV Washington Bureau Chief Jacqueline Policastro:
