New DNC chair does his best to discredit Trump’s speech; instead proves he’ll be great for GOP

The newly minted Democrat National Committee Chairman Tom Perez panned President Donald Trump’s speech before a joint session of Congress on Tuesday as pushing “alternative facts.”

Perez, who was flanked by Democrat National Committee Deputy Chairman Keith Ellison, told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and Brian Williams that the president’s speech was “Steve Bannon on steroids with a smile,” in what sounded like scripted talking points.

He said President Trump was not responsible for the increase in companies adding jobs, even as the stock market hits historic highs.

“Since January 20, the Washington Wizards have one of the best records in the NBA,” Perez said sarcastically. “It must have been Trump.”

He rattled off more talking points, stating that the president was “immigrant baiting” and making promises he won’t keep, like repealing and replacing Obamacare.

But the fact is Republicans have more than one plan to replace the healthcare law and it is only a matter of choosing which one to pick.

President Trump has also already made good on a number of campaign promises like picking a Conservative SCOTUS nominee, rolling back job stifling regulations, and meeting with black leaders to boost schools in the inner cities, to name a few.

Just because the media doesn’t report on it, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

Perez made a beeline for the president ever since he was elected chairman on Saturday. In one of his first public moves he went after President Trump on Twitter after the president backhandedly congratulated him on his victory by telling him the Republican Party couldn’t be happier with the outcome of the DNC election.

It seems Perez’s response just proved Trump right.

Behind the empty rhetoric of Perez and Ellison is the fact that the GOP has all the votes it needs to do whatever it wants and there isn’t much, if anything Democrats can do to prevent it.
