Deputy White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders offered a truly unique take on why President Donald Trump won’t attend the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
…and it involved Girl Scouts.
The president said Saturday on Twitter that he was skipping the annual event that celebrates the media but he wished them well.

Appearing on ABC’s “This Week,” Sanders explained that “this wasn’t a president that was elected to spend his time with reporters and celebrities.”
She went on to say that there’s no reason for Trump to show up and “pretend” that his relationship with the media is good.
“I think it’s kind of naive of us to think that we can all walk into a room for a couple of hours and pretend that some of that tension isn’t there,” Sanders said.

And this is when the Girl Scouts came into play.
“One of the things we say in the South [is] if a Girl Scout egged your house, would you buy cookies from her?” Sanders told host George Stephanopoulos. “I think that this is a pretty similar scenario.”
“There’s no reason for him to go in and sit and pretend like this is going to be just another Saturday night.”
