Did an Eastern Kentucky police chief go too bold with large “Blue Lives Matter” decals featuring the Punisher skull?
Catlettsburg Police Chief Cameron Logan had the decals placed on the department’s eight patrol vehicles in December and local residents praised the decision, according to the Lexington Herald Leader.
But Logan would soon reverse the decision after media coverage prompted “others in the commonwealth” to raise questions.

The Punisher skull is popular with military units and was featured in the blockbuster film, “American Sniper,” the story of American hero Chris Kyle.
The deign was approved by the town’s mayor and city council, although one council member, Richard “Andy” Brown, echoed sentiments held by those eager to denounce law enforcement in his opposition.

“I just think it’s a little bit strange,” Brown said, after raising concerns about wasting taxpayers’ money. “There’s been a lot of people mistreated by police, and their lives matter, too, like that guy in North Carolina.”
Brown was referencing Keith Lamont Scott, who was fatally shot in September 2016 by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer.
Chief Logan explained his reasoning behind the decals.

“That design is basically to give back to the police officers,” Logan said. “Our lives matter just as much as anybody’s. … I’m not racist or anything like that, I’m not trying to stir anything up like that. I consider it to be a ‘warrior logo.'”
He was also clear that “all lives matter.”
“Just ’cause it has ‘Blue Lives Matter’ on the hood, all lives matter,” Logan added. “That decal represents that we will take any means necessary to keep our community safe.”
