2 days after Conn. governor declares a sanctuary state, amber alert screams for alien murder, kidnap suspect

Days after Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy instructed law enforcement in his state to not fully cooperate with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, an illegal alien in his state was charged with murder and kidnapping.

Oscar Obedio Hernandez, 39, is accused of murdering his girlfriend, Nidia Gonzalez, and taking off with their 6-year-old daughter, Aylin Sofia Hernandez, sparking an Amber Alert on Friday, Fox 61 reported.

Another woman was stabbed but is expected to recover.

Hernandez has a prior felony conviction in 2002 for assault and threatening and several misdemeanor convictions. He was deported in 2013.

“Oscar Obedio Hernandez, a citizen of El Salvador, was issued a Final Order of Removal by an immigration judge on Oct. 29, 2013,” ICE spokesman Shawn Neudauer said in a statement. “He was removed from the United States by ICE officers in Hartford, CT on Nov. 27, 2013. He has prior felony convictions from 2002 for assault and threatening, as well as several misdemeanor convictions. ICE has placed an immigration detainer with the Bridgeport (Connecticut) Police Department.”

With egg on the governor’s face, his spokesperson issued a statement.

“Our local laws are designed to protect our residents and also ensure that those in harm’s way feel safe seeking help from law enforcement. That’s why convicted violent felons are detained for deportation under our state laws that the governor has consistently and strongly supported,” spokesperson Kelly Donnelly said.

Malloy defended his decision when he spoke to Fox News’ Tucker Carlson on Thursday, before Hernandez alleged crimes.

“We should not be expending local dollars [or] state dollars,” Malloy told Carlson.

“The president can’t order [the state] to do federal work,” he said in defense of his memo advising local law enforcement that they do not have to fully cooperate with immigration.

Hernandez was apprehended, and his daughter safely recovered on Friday.

The governor is facing fierce backlash on social media after Hernandez’s alleged crimes.
