Steve Bannon is a man who seems to prefer keeping his nose to the political grindstone to public speeches and news show appearances.
But the White House chief strategist made an exception to his usual routine for CPAC 2017, and he did not disappoint.
Bannon joined White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and Matt Schlapp for a panel discussion on Thursday about how President Trump has united the GOP and the conservative movement as well as how he plans on implementing his agenda going forward.

Unlike so many politicians before him, Donald Trump actually plans on keeping his promises to the American people, promises often made during his many campaign speeches.
“He’s laid out an agenda with those speeches,” the former head of Breitbart News said, “with the promises he made. And our job everyday is just to execute on that. And he’s maniacally focused on that.”
Continuing with his theme of an “opposition media,” Bannon pointed out how wrong they were about the supposed disarray of both the Trump campaign and transition, and how wrong they continue to be about all that’s going on in the White House.

“They’re corporatist, globalist media. They’re adamantly opposed to an economic nationalist agenda like Donald Trump has.”
Then Bannon delivered a promise about the administration’s commitments that will surely send chills down the backs of hardcore Leftists (emphasis added).
“They are absolutely dead wrong about what’s going on today,” he continued, “because we have a team that’s just grinding it through on what President Donald Trump promised the American people, and the mainstream media had better understand something – all those promises are going to be implemented.”

Referring to the long, hard fight to come, Bannon said, “If you think they’re going to give you your country back without a fight, you are sadly mistaken. Whether you are a populist, a limited-government conservative, libertarian, economic nationalist, we have wide and sometimes divergent opinions, but the center core of what we believe, that we are a nation with an economy, not an economy in some global marketplace within open borders… that’s what unites us and will unite this movement going forward.”

“We want you to have our back,” Bannon said to cheers from the crowd. “But more importantly, hold us accountable for what we promised.”
Bannon was articulate and personable, and displayed the range of knowledge that likely led President Trump to pick him to run his campaign and be his chief strategist. He left many wanting more and wondering why he doesn’t appear in public more often. But then again, the fact that this man is by Trump’s side doing the people’s work is more than a little reassuring, even if it drives Leftist loons nuts.
