Adele breaks her Grammy in half to grovel before Beyonce, as Twitter users insist win was race-based

Pop star Adele won big at the Grammys on Sunday and many on social media believe they know why.

The British-born singer did everything but get on her knees and bow in front of Beyonce in her “Best Record” acceptance speech.

“I can’t possibly accept this award. And I’m very humbled and I’m very grateful and gracious. But my artist of my life is Beyoncé. And this album to me, the “Lemonade” album, is just so monumental. Beyoncé, it’s so monumental. And so well thought out, and so beautiful and soul-baring and we all got to see another side to you that you don’t always let us see. And we appreciate that. And all us artists here adore you. You are our light,” said the singer who literally broke her award in half to give it to Beyonce.

“And the way that you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel, is empowering. And you make them stand up for themselves,” she said.

She continued her praise for Beyonce backstage.

“I thought it was her year. What the fuck does she have to do to win Album of the Year?” she said, according to Variety reporter Andrew Barker.

But despite her groveling before Beyonce, Adele was still accused of winning because of racism and white privilege on social media.

Because Beyonce has never won an ward. unless you count her 24 MTV Music awards, 22 Grammys, 15 Billboard awards, 7 American music awards and many others.

Many on social media put it in perspective.
