Conn anti-Trump protesters block ambulance; medics had to do emergency procedure in truck

A critically ill Connecticut patient was prevented from getting to a hospital by anti-Trump protesters over the weekend.

Upwards to 200 protesters opposing President Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration and refugees blocked an exit ramp to I-95 in New Haven on Saturday, according to CBS affiliate WFSB. Paramedics were forced to perform an emergency medical procedure in the ambulance due to the delay.

“The protesters were in the process of being cleared from the highway,” state police said in a statement, according to MassLive.com. “But not before they obstructed an ambulance carrying a critically ill patient. Due to the delay, ambulance personnel were required to perform an emergency medical procedure in the ambulance instead of at the hospital.”

Surprisingly, given the leniency police often grant these protesters, a man identified as the leader of the protest was arrested, MassLive.com reported.

Not that the liberal “hero” didn’t go down without a fight.

Police saw Norman Clement, 66, barking into a microphone and loudspeaker and set upon him.

“Clement ran from law enforcement personnel through the crowd, knocking over several of his supporters, before being apprehended,” police said. “Clement actively resisted arrest and was sprayed with (pepper spray).”

He was charged with inciting a riot, disorderly conduct, interfering with an officer and reckless use of the highway by a pedestrian.
