Elizabeth Warren pulls out all the stops for her latest Twitter storm

Sen. Elizabeth Warren had a social media meltdown after President Donald Trump signed an executive order calling for extreme vetting of immigrants from certain Middle Eastern nations and a halt to the Syrian refugee program.

The order said that “the entry of nationals of Syria as refugees is detrimental to the interests of the United States” and stopped Syrian refugee admission into the United States until it “is consistent with the national interest.”

The Massachusetts senator, not affectionately known as Fauxahontas, attacked the administration on Twitter.

Warren was not the only Democrat senator to engage in such hyperbole.

Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy took a break from his usual anti-gun banter to weigh in on the president’s decision and call out his colleagues.

And he used the image of a drowned Syrian child to do it.

That tweet followed an op-ed he wrote earlier in the day for the Huffington Post that slammed the order.

“Trump has now handed ISIS a path to rebirth,” he wrote. “They can and will use his announcement today as confirmation that America is at war with Muslims, especially those Muslims living in desperate circumstances.

“Their recruitment bulletin boards will light up with new material. Their entreaties to would-be lone wolf attackers in America will have new energy and purpose,” Murphy added.

“All the work we have done to cut down on extremist recruitment at home and abroad now goes out the window,” he said. “It’s a new day for terrorist recruiters.”
