The intense political divisiveness of late increasingly lends itself to the notion that we are indeed two nations living inside of one.
The relevant question is, how long will that remain the case?
Prior to the most recent election, secession talk has involved conservatives in various states, particularly Texas, joking-but-not-really about their desire to leave the union rather than live under liberal tyranny. One August 2016 poll even found that fully 40 percent of Texans favored seceding from the union if Hillary Clinton were to win the White House.

But before liberals start pointing fingers, they should probably look at a Reuters poll just conducted in liberal California.
According to the poll, almost one-third of California’s population is currently in favor of a formal break from the United States. In fact, not only is a current petition on Change.org urging Democratic Governor Jerry Brown to begin the process of severing ties, the #Calexit movement began to gain steam right around November 2016.
The reason is obvious. The election of Donald Trump.
