Journalists discovered that Donald Trump stretched the truth when he told the New York Times on Monday that dresses were all sold out in D.C. for his inauguration.
“We are going to have an unbelievable, perhaps record-setting turnout for the inauguration, and there will be plenty of movie and entertainment stars,” Trump told the Times.
“All the dress shops are sold out in Washington. It’s hard to find a great dress for this inauguration.,” he said.
A normal person might assume that Trump had not called every dress shop and was using a euphemism. But not the crack staff at the Washington Post.
While other actual journalists, like those at GotNews, were finding out the facts about the apparent connections between the Fort Lauderdale terrorist and radical Islam, the “journalists” at the Post were on the case, phoning dress shops in D.C. to see if they were, in fact, sold out.
Vice president and general manager of Neiman Marcus in Friendship Heights, Martha Slagle, told the Post that shoppers in her store “have more than a thousand evening gowns to choose from.”
Move aside Woodward and Bernstein, the Post has cracked the Dressgate scandal wide open.
At least one VIP has a plan B.
Kellyanne Conway told “Fox & Friends” on Monday that the poor, picked on Hollywood celebrities, like Meryl Streep, could take care of her.
“Talking about how vilified poor Hollywood is, in their gazillion-dollar gowns. Can I borrow a couple of those for the inaugural address?” she said.
Fear not, Kellyanne.
If Streep won’t help you, give the Washington Post a call.
Apparently they have nothing better to do.
If Conway could have her pick of Golden Globes dresses, which one do you think she would choose?
