President-elect Donald Trump took a not-so-veiled shot at China on social media Monday in response to the potential nuclear threat represented by North Korea.
Kim Jong Un, the supreme leader of North Korea, announced on New Year’s Day his country is close to testing an intercontinental ballistic missile, with the stated goal “to cope against the vicious threats for nuclear war by the Imperialists,” according to CNN.

In a message that sets the tone of his administration, Trump made it clear he doesn’t intend to allow Kim Jong Un’s brutal regime to reach a point where it can threaten the United States.
“North Korea just stated that it is in the final stages of developing a nuclear weapon capable of reaching parts of the U.S. It won’t happen!” he tweeted.

Trump followed up on the first tweet by calling out China — again — for not doing more to help rein in its neighbor… if it can do anything at all with the rogue country.
“China has been taking out massive amounts of money & wealth from the U.S. in totally one-sided trade, but won’t help with North Korea. Nice!” Trump wrote.

Trump’s options in dealing with North Korea are limited — in addition to direct military action, he “could push China to beef up and implement existing sanctions more harshly,” CNN noted.
Or he could sit down with the North Korea dictator, something Trump said he would be willing to do on the campaign trail.
“What the hell is wrong with speaking?” he asked in June.
