‘Good Wife’ producers were so confident Hillary was next POTUS they had to rewrite script for spinoff

If anyone needed more proof that Hollywood lives in a bubble the fact that the writers of “The Good Fight,” a spinoff of CBS hit show “The Good Wife,” had to rewrite part of its pilot to deal with Donald Trump’s presidential victory.

Executive producers Robert and Michelle King told “Entertainment Weekly” that “Like most pollsters, we thought Hillary Clinton would win the presidency, so we wrote scenes about Diane retiring from the law because she ‘broke every glass ceiling.'”

But alas there are still glass ceilings that remain uncracked.

“Obviously we needed to rewrite — on the eighth day of shooting,” the Kings wrote on one copy of the script sent exclusively to Entertainment Weekly.

The pilot will now begin with the main character, Diane Lockhart, portrayed by Christine Baranski, reacting “shell-shocked” while watching the inauguration of Donald Trump.

“The show tends to be a satire of the liberal mindset,” the producers wrote in notes on the script. “So it felt funny and awful to play off of Diane’s stunned reaction to the inauguration.”
