CAIR leader forced to apologize after publicly wishing more Russian deaths in plane crash

The religion of peace, you say?

Hussam Ayloush is the executive director of the Council on Islamic-American Relations’ Los Angeles chapter and he took to social media in a not-so-peaceful manner to wish for more deaths in the tragic crash of a Russian TU-154 jet into the Black Sea on Christmas.

The plane was carrying members of the Russian army’s official choir, who were on their way to Syria to perform for their troops stationed there — 92 people, including 84 passengers and eight crew members were killed.

But Ayloush was sad that more did not die… and he shared this sentiment on Christmas Day!

“I’m sad about the crashed Russian military jet,” he tweeted. “The TU-154 could have carried up to 180 military personnel instead of just 92.”

Naturally, Ayloush would delete the tweet after a firestorm of criticism, not seeming to grasp that the internet is forever.

He would also further explain the tweet in a Facebook post that he left up after editing it to include an apology, reported.

“Every Russian soldier who doesn’t make it to Syria translates into Syrian civilian lives being spared,” Ayloush wrote.

In a classic case of refusing to stop digging when in a hole, the CAIR-LA official offered this excuse on Twitter:

This is not the first time Ayloush found himself at the center of controversy. Following last year’s deadly terrorist attack in San Bernardino at the hands of Islamic extremists, Ayloush said the U.S. was “partly responsible” because of our foreign policy.

“Let’s not forget that some of our own foreign policy, as Americans, as the West, have fueled that extremism,” he told CNN.

The reaction on social media to Ayloush’s call for additional deaths was severe, to include calls for his resignation.
