Nate Silver’s ‘nuclear holocaust’ electoral map wins the popular vote, but not everyone’s laughing

FiveThirtyEight’s Nate Silver apparently took issue with Donald Trump’s call for the United States to “strengthen and expand” our nuclear capabilities. On Friday, the pollster tweeted a picture of what the electoral map would look like after an all-out nuclear war.

Essentially, Silver sees Alaska, Hawaii, and, for some reason, Wyoming managing to survive the nuclear apocalypse. Just a day later, the tweet had almost 12,000 retweets and 15,000 likes.

Trump also doubled-down and upped the ante regarding U.S. nuclear capability when he told MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski off-air Friday morning, according to Brzezinski’s recollection, “Let it be an arms race, we will outmatch them at every pass … and outlast them all.”
