Except, the 1823 Clement Clarke Moore (read, dead white guy) poem turned out to be a bit too politically incorrect for the tastes of these two progressive warriors.

On his Thursday show and later tweet, Fox News host Tucker Carlson pointed out that Obama couldn’t resist interjecting the “fact” that “Santa, apparently, has quit smoking.”

“The stump of a pipe … an, I think St. Nick gave up smoking [laughter]… it was a long time back,” Obama said.

Carlson clearly irked by Obama’s action quipped the classic poem didn’t meet up to her “high moral standards.”

Carlson’s further response is a classic:

Seacrest also didn’t miss an opportunity to “improve” the poem.

When he got to the part about St. Nick’s round belly shaking like a “bowl full of jelly,” Seacrest said, “I mean this as a compliment” before continuing, “He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself.”

Inauguration day can’t get here fast enough!
