GOP elector says he’s receiving threats to get a ‘bullet in the mouth’ if he doesn’t switch vote

These days, being a member of the Electoral College comes with its own special set of problems. Countless emails and letters begging them to change their vote are common. And at least one elector, Michigan’s Mike Banerian, has confirmed that he has even received death threats from Democrats who want him to switch his vote.

Appearing on Fox Business Network Thursday, Banerian confirmed that he has contacted police about specific death threats he has received:

“I’ve been inundated with hundreds and hundreds of letters to my house,” Banerian said, “Facebook messages and some of those Facebook messages are death threats. I’ve had people threaten to put a bullet in the back of my mouth. People saying to throw myself in front of a bus, sending me pictures of a noose. Saying if I don’t do the right thing that they’ll get me.”

When asked if he was aware of other threats, Banerian said, “Everyone else though has been receiving hundreds of these emails and letters to their house … begging us to change our votes. A lot of them are very nasty.”

Oddly enough, he said most of the threats were coming, not from Michigan, but from blue states like California and New York.
