Fans of President-elect Donald Trump, including President Obama’s brother, are boycotting the new “Star Wars: Rogue One” movie because of the writer’s hatred for Trump.

Boycott Star Wars people! #DumpStarWars

Mr.Trump is bigger than Star Wars.

If it came to voting for Mr.Trump or Star Wars who would you vote for?

The hashtag #DumpStarWars has been trending on social media since Malik Obama tweeted it on Thursday.
The writers of “Rogue One,” Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz, have been unabashedly anti-Trump with several tweets attacking the president-elect both before and after the election. Even pushing the “safety-pin” symbol along with the “Rogue One” symbol together.
The safety-pin had been adopted by those having a temper tantrum following Trump’s election.

After reading the Twitter feeds of both men, it seems they spend much more time attacking Trump’s decisions and cabinet picks than they do promoting their movie, and summarily alienating half of their prospective audience.
“Please note that the Empire is a white supremacist (human) organization.” Whitta wrote in a since deleted tweet. “Opposed by a multi-cultural group led by brave women.”
The Mussolini/Trump comparisons that are resurfacing again are entirely apt. Mussolini was basically a weaker, dumber Hitler. As is Trump.

And it isn’t only Trump Whitta dislikes, but Trump supporters too.
Trump could literally say “Hitler had some pretty good ideas just bad execution” and it wouldn’t hurt him. That’s how awful his fans are.

It is likely that they feel confident enough that many Star Wars fans, even if they are supporters of Trump, are so married to the Star Wars franchise that they will ignore being called “awful” and still give these men their hard-earned dollars.

And they are probably correct.
But that hasn’t stopped many on social media from voicing their anger.
