Comedian Amy Schumer received a rude reception in the Twitter-sphere following the announcement Friday that she would play the leading role in the Sony live-action flick “Barbie.”
The movie, due out in 2018, will reportedly “put a contemporary spin on beauty, feminism and identity,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The amply proportioned comedian quickly found herself on the receiving end of a fat-shaming backlash from social media users struggling to see the connection between Schumer and the popular Mattel doll.
