Let’s compare Obama, Carter and Trudeau’s pathetic responses to Castro’s demise to that of Trump

Liberals worldwide gave wishy-washy, weak responses to the death of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro. President Barack Obama was right at the forefront.

After the president offered “a hand of friendship to the Cuban people,” he actually sent “condolences to the family of Fidel Castro,” a man responsible for countless murders.

And in a three paragraph flowery statement on the oppressive and murderous despot he still, as he often does, managed to find a way to praise himself.

Compare that the succinct and strong response of President-elect Donald Trump earlier.

Contrast Trump’s statement to the rest of these far left world leaders who bowed at the altar of Castro on Saturday, starting with former president Jimmy Carter.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was particularly pathetic.

It is with deep sorrow that I learned today of the death of Cuba’s longest serving President.

Fidel Castro was a larger than life leader who served his people for almost half a century. A legendary revolutionary and orator, Mr. Castro made significant improvements to the education and healthcare of his island nation.

While a controversial figure, both Mr. Castro’s supporters and detractors recognized his tremendous dedication and love for the Cuban people who had a deep and lasting affection for “el Comandante”.

I know my father was very proud to call him a friend and I had the opportunity to meet Fidel when my father passed away. It was also a real honour to meet his three sons and his brother President Raúl Castro during my recent visit to Cuba.

On behalf of all Canadians, Sophie and I offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and many, many supporters of Mr. Castro. We join the people of Cuba today in mourning the loss of this remarkable leader.

U.K. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn praised the man who persecuted gays and minorities as a “champion of social justice.

“Fidel Castro’s death marks the passing of a huge figure of modern history, national independence and 20th-century socialism,” he said.

“From building a world class health and education system, to Cuba’s record of international solidarity abroad, Castro’s achievements were many.

“For all his flaws, Castro’s support for Angola played a crucial role in bringing an end to Apartheid in South Africa, and he will be remembered both as an internationalist and a champion of social justice.”

Former London Mayor Ken Livingstone had a similar response as he called the dictator an “absolute giant of the 20th Century’” and “beacon of light all over Latin America.”

EU Commission Jean-Claude Juncker chimed in with praise, as well.

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto called Castro a “friend of the Mexican people.”

They were joined by the presidents of Sri Lanka and India.
