Losing is hard, I know. As a young lad, I tried out for little league baseball. I didn’t make it. Tried out the next year, barely made it and rode the bench until the ninth when the coach, if we had a big enough lead, had mercy on me and put me in right field. After I overran a few too many fly balls and struck out more than I made contact, I finally got the message and decided baseball wasn’t for me.
There are no participation trophies in a box in my parent’s basement.
But you, dear pampered millennial, you probably got a trophy for finishing 28th in a 30 person spelling bee. Everyone’s a winner, right?
Except for last week when Donald J. Trump up and rocked your world, and your worldview, with an electoral ass-whipping of epic proportions.
Hurts don’t it? Again, I know.
Remember eight years ago, when your guy Obama swept into office with a mandate and had a Democratic-controlled Congress itching to do everything and anything it wanted? I was upset, sick even, but I didn’t take to the streets… you know, because I had a job.
This time the roles are reversed. This time the sane people get to run the show for a while. I know you want to run to your safe spaces and burn some American flags, kiss a picture of Che Guevara, weep into your tofu, or tell your “spirit cooker” how unfair the cruel, cruel world is. But I’m here to lift you up in your sorrow, to encourage you with the fact that your future isn’t as bad as it seems right now.
So cheer up Snowflake, because like it or not, your life is about to get better.
Here are a few issues that have probably “triggered” you these past several days, and a few reasons why you shouldn’t be as concerned as your delicious tears say you are right now.
Immigration
I know, I know, you want to invite the entire population of the Third World into your neighborhood so you can hold hands and sing kumbaya together. I know you think all Muslims are cool just because so many of them are brown.
Problem is, you need to understand that a certain percentage of Muslims want to kill you, and a significant percentage of the rest come from cultures that oppress women, gays, and anyone who doesn’t think like them, including other Muslims. You also need to understand that importing millions of people from hellhole cultures will result in our country becoming just like the countries they left. It’s not rocket science, just common sense.
I would like to see every illegal immigrant deported for thumbing their noses at our laws, but I’m also pragmatic enough to know that probably isn’t going to happen. What will happen, however, is firm border security and deportation of illegal alien criminals. Which means you will have fewer scumbags preying on you and the rest of the public, less illegal immigration draining our (and your) resources and tax dollars (once you get a productive job), and less competition for you and the immigrants who are already here for jobs and public services.
I don’t know what you call it, but I call that a win, win, win!
Race relations
I know the Huff Post and your gal Rachel Maddow told you Trump is a racist, and you believe it, but – and please read this carefully – it’s not true. It’s just not. In fact, Trump has courted the black vote with more intensity than any Republican candidate in years and got a higher percentage than Romney or McCain. Sure, it was still low, and life will never be perfect, but guess what, the policies Trump will implement in the African-American community will bring jobs, hope, and a brighter future than any policy under Obama ever did. That’s good for black folks, and it’s good for the rest of us too.
Obamacare
I know you liked the idea of one big happy healthcare family, but, as it turns out, somebody has to pay for your socialist utopia. Hence, the astronomical and unsustainable rises in health insurance premiums most of us working stiffs have had to endure the past several years.
Freeloading isn’t free after all.
The reality is, Obamacare was never going to work. And as much as I’d love to see the entire jalopy scrapped and replaced with something, anything, better. Odds are the more popular provisions, like pre-existing conditions and kids getting to stay on parent’s plans until they are 26, will stay and the rest will be modified or repealed to make it more workable.
The good news for you is that when or if you do eventually make it out of your parent’s basement into the real world, you might be able to afford health insurance.
Gun Control
You probably think that banning or severely restricting firearms would lead to a wave of peace and tranquility not seen since Lenin and his Bolsheviks finished their Great Terror, but, as the little lady in the Esurance ad says, “that’s not how any of this works.”
Anywhere you restrict firearms; crime goes up. Anywhere you allow open or concealed carry; crime goes down. I know that might be too counter-intuitive for you to wrap your politically-correct brain around, but facts are facts.
Trump won’t be instituting any gun control, and he may even roll back some of the ridiculous laws already on the books. The result will be a safer existence for you and your family, unless you live in Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC, or any other liberal-run city with copious amounts of gun control.
I hope you appreciate the irony.
I could do this all day, and with any issue. The point is, conservative policies will make more things better for more people across the board.
I now ask you to live your life and keep an open mind during the next four years.
Nobody is coming for you. Nobody is going to mess with you. Nobody is taking away any of your rights.
In fact, nobody is going to do anything at all to you except institute policies that will make your lives better for the long haul.
Because with or without your help, we’re going to make America great again.
