A flurry of activity sprung from a few tense moments with Megyn Kelly but retired Navy SEAL Carl Higbie says it’s all good now.
Higbie joined the Tom Anderson Show on Friday, the morning after a two-day gauntlet of questions posed to the veteran regarding immigrant vetting on FOX News’s Megyn Kelly Show.
On Wednesday, Higbie attempted to explain his premise there is a legal precedent in the United States for stopping, detaining and possibly background-searching immigrants at the borders and airports. Kelly misconstrued Higbie’s reference to precedence as invoking detainment of citizens from a hostile nation (“hostile” to the U.S.) comparable to Japanese during World War II. Kelly afforded the former SEAL member the opportunity to clarify his remarks on her show Thursday evening.
Friday morning, Anderson asked Higbie about the consecutive interviews and Kelly’s misconstruction of his detainment comments, and he responded, “I think what Megyn Kelly did last night – she’s gotten a bad rap from a lot of the Trump supporters. I thought what she did yesterday had an extreme journalistic integrity…When she actually brought me back on to correct the record, which – quite frankly, she did put words in my mouth, and I want to be thankful for that. For the people who are giving Megyn Kelly a hard time, I’d say give her a second chance.”
Higbie added: “I really believe that Donald Trump has America’s safety in our best interest. The way the Left is spinning this is that he’s a bigot, that he’s a racist; he’s not. All he wants to do is intelligently protect the United States of America. 80-year-old Christian women are not flying planes into buildings, OK. So we can rule them out. So that shouldn’t be one subject to the watch list.”
“What I think is – there’s been such an overreaction from the American people that they’re so offended by everything. Get out of your safe space, because guess what? Iraq, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan, North Korea, they’re not safe spaces. And if we’re not careful, and if we don’t start protecting ourselves, they’re coming here.”
Anderson noted that mainstream media has also misconstrued Higbie’s comments during the initial Kelly File interview.

But instead of receiving the hero’s welcome the SEALs deserved, they were charged with prisoner abuse after Al-Isawi alleged they’d beaten him up. Carl Higbie was a witness for their defense at the court-martial. When he went public with his account of what happened, the Navy fought him tooth and nail. But Higbie fought back–and he won.”
