In her first public engagement since her colossal loss to President-elect Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton intimated that there have been times this past week when she preferred to “never leave the house again.”
Speaking at the Children’s Defense Fund gala Wednesday, the former presidential nominee said she was “deeply disappointed about the results of the election,” and let slip how she may have spent the days since.
“There have been a few times this past week when all I wanted to do is just to curl up with a good book or our dogs and never leave the house again,” Clinton said.

At the same time, Clinton urged her supporters to keep the faith and to “never, ever give up.”

As Bloomberg political reporter Jennifer Epstein shared, it was a tough night for Clinton’s supporters, who continue to see their hero as the “people’s president.”

Nonetheless, social media users more interested in making America great again had little sympathy for Clinton.

@ABCPolitics Sounds like she lacked the temperament to be president. You can’t just curl up during bad times.
