Two members from Eagles of Death Metal, the band that performed during the Paris attacks last fall, were allegedly denied entry to the one-year anniversary concert Saturday because of anti-Muslim remarks made after the attack.
Ninety people were killed at the Bataclan theater in Paris when terrorists took the crowd hostage during an Eagles of Death Metal concert. Jesse Hughes, the band’s frontman, has accused guards at the theater of aiding the terrorists. Hughes was therefore stopped at the door when he returned for Sting’s concert during the reopening of the theater.
“They came, I threw them out — there are things you can’t forgive,” Bataclan co-director Jules Frutos told AFP. “He makes these incredibly false declarations every two months. It is madness, accusing our security of being complicit with the terrorists… Enough. Zero. This has to stop.”
Marc Pollack, the band’s manager, denies the incident took place.
“Jesse did not even try to enter the room for the concert of Sting,” Pollack told Billboard Magazine.
Hughes and Eagles of Death Metal were banned from several French festivals for saying Muslims celebrated in the streets after the attack.
“I saw Muslims celebrating in the street during the attack,” Hughes told Taki magazine in May. “I saw it with my own eyes. In real time!”
Hughes also apologized for previous “absurd and baseless” comments he made against Muslims.
