House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell reportedly encouraged President-elect Donald Trump to select Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus as his chief of staff, CNN reports.
Both leaders met with the billionaire, first Ryan over lunch and then McConnell, Thursday to discuss their plans for the upcoming year.

With the presidential transition picking up speed, advocates for Priebus, who played a large roll in putting together Trump’s ground game, say his political experience could be a unifying force between the White House and Congress.
“He is very likely Chief of Staff,” a source told TIME. “Trump legit listens to him.”
Trump’s campaign chief, Steve Bannon, is reportedly also being considered for the role.
Bannon, the executive chairman of Breitbart News, took a leave of absence from the conservative website to help run the campaign.
Priebus told Fox News taking the position is not “something I’m talking about right now.”
“I don’t know. This is up to President-elect Trump. He will make all of these decisions. He will surround himself with great people.” he said.
