Corey Lewandowski resigns from CNN in preparation for new gig

Former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski has resigned from his job at CNN as speculation grows that he has taken a job with the President Trump administration.

Lewandowski has been with CNN since June, when he was fired by the Trump campaign and has been a staunch advocate for the new president-elect on a network that didn’t have many

He resigned on Friday after Lewandowski visited Trump Tower in New York where Trump and his team are holding transition meetings, CNN reported.

CNN admitted Lewandowski often served as the lone pro-Trump voice on some of its programming and, the station said, many of its own staff didn’t want him employed by the network.

President-elect Trump has a brand new website–and he wants you to stop by and ‘share your ideas’

But CNN President Jeff Zucker defended his decision to hire the Trump stalwart.

“I think it’s really important to have voices on CNN who are supportive of the Republican nominee,” he told Variety back in August. “It’s hard to find a lot of those. Our competitors tried to hire him too.”

Lewandowski’s name was among several mentioned as a possible chief of staff for the Trump administration, by the New York Times.

Lewandowski appeared in a photo on Twitter with the woman who replaced him on Trump’s team, Kellyanne Conway and press secretary Hope Hicks which only added to speculation that he has indeed taken a job with the administration.
