Dems’ hope for November surprise vanishes when woman with ‘bombshell’ backs out at last minute

The hoped for “November surprise” Hillary Clinton supporters were banking on vanished into thin air when the woman who accused GOP nominee Donald Trump of raping her when she was 13-years-old dropped her claim.

In addition to dropping a lawsuit against Trump, the woman also canceled a highly-anticipated news conference.

More from Politico:

The accuser, identified in the lawsuit by the pseudonym “Jane Doe,” was expected to appear at a news conference in Los Angeles Wednesday, but that appearance was abruptly canceled.

The lawyer who organized the event, Lisa Bloom, said Trump’s accuser had received threats and was too frightened to show up.

Attorney Lisa Bloom, the daughter of high-profile attorney Gloria Allred, took to social media to detail the attacks she says her client and her firm have received.

She also promised that “many more” women will “rise up.”

There was plenty of speculation — and skepticism — from social media users about the validity of the charges. Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:
