‘What goes around comes around’ – Turns out, Bill Clinton benefited from an 11th-hour indictment tied to Bush

Hillary Clinton must have a short memory. because she has continued to say that FBI Director James Comey reopening the case into her email server is “unprecedented.”

The Democratic presidential nominee has said  that FBI Director James Comey reopening the case into her email server is “unprecedented.”

Democrats, such as Harry Reid, have spent the weekend writing ludicrous letters to claim Comey violated federal law, that he’s working with Vladimir Putin, or that Russia is behind the emails being found on Clinton Aide Huma Abedin’s estranged husband Anthony Weiner’s laptop.

But it was a similar move that put her husband, former President Bill Clinton, into office in 1992.

President George H.W. Bush was climbing back in the polls against Clinton as Election Day neared but a mere four days before voters cast their ballots, special prosecutor Lawrence Walsh got an indictment against former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger in regards to his involvement in the Iran-Contra affair.

At the time Bill Clinton used the indictment to tie Bush to a “culture of corruption” and Bush subsequently had his momentum stifled.

“Today’s disclosure that President Bush knew and approved of the arms-for-hostages deal with Iran not only directly contradicts the president’s claims, it diminishes the credibility of the presidency. It raises the question first, and most importantly, about whether he’s told the truth in this campaign and for the last five years,” Bill Clinton said at the time, as reported by the New York Times. “And secondly, it raises the whole question of his support for the policy. But the far more important thing is whether for five years he’s been telling the American people something about his conduct of foreign policy as vice president which was simply not true.”

The indictment was dismissed after the election but the damage was done and Bill Clinton became president.

It kind of ruins the “unprecedented” argument.
