PA mayor urged to resign for his 'sickening' racist posts of Obama, apes and lynching

A Pennsylvania mayor is in hot water after he posted several racist images to his Facebook page over the past few months.

“I kind of want to throw up,” Council president Shawn Mauck told the York Dispatch.

“I would punch him in the mouth if I could get away with it,” Councilwoman Shelley Metzler said.

Charles Wasko, mayor of small-town West York, published an image of a wheelbarrow of orangutans June 18, with a caption reading, “Aww … moving day at the Whitehouse has finally arrived.”

“Kenya or bust” was inscribed on the wagon.

Another post months prior showcases film star Clint Eastwood looking through a noose, which is believed to be a still shot from one of the actor’s movies. The caption for this photo is “Barry, This rope is for you. You wanna bring that empty chair over here!”

The council members are now asking Wasko to resign.

“Now that York NAACP has been made aware, we will be seeking to take action, because his obvious bias against black people has an effect on all his constituents, which he seems to forget includes black people,” Sandra Thompson, head of the NAACP based in nearby York, told the York Dispatch.

Wasko was elected mayor of West York in 2013. The borough is located roughly 100 miles west of Philadelphia and has an approximate population of 4,500.

He ran as a Republican unopposed to any official candidate. Wasko garnered 202 total votes, against 78 other write-in ballots, according to Fox News.

According to 2010 census report, the town is roughly 86 percent white and 12 percent black.
