In what appears to be another unprovoked attack by black militants on police officers, Marc Laquon Payne (aka Ntare Kalid Ali El-Shabazz), according to his assumed name a self-described member of the New Black Panther Movement, is facing three charges of attempted first degree murder after he appears to have deliberately plowed his car into three police officers at a Phoenix QuickTrip convenience store.
Miraculously, the officers survived and are currently recovering from injuries sustained in the attack.
Phoenix police chief Joe Yahner elaborated on what police are calling an “intentional” attack.
“They were victims of an unprovoked, violent, intentional attack,” Yahner said. “These officers could have easily been killed, and I thank God we’re not planning three funerals right now.”
According to investigators, Payne hit the officers head-on around 2 a.m. while they were standing in the parking lot before striking a police car and crashing through the front of the store.
One officer was able to jump out of the way and arrest the culprit, although he was then injured by Payne during the arrest.
The other two officers were taken to the hospital – one with a broken leg and another, who was on his very first day on the job, sustained a head injury. They are both expected to recover.
“I am outraged by this incident,” Yahner told the press. “Our Phoenix police officers were targeted. We have all heard about officers being targeted and ambushed across this nation. But this happened here. This happened in Phoenix. This happened to your Phoenix police officers.”
