Greta Van Susteren’s abrupt exit from Fox News thrust anchor Brit Hume into the spotlight as he took over her former show.
Hume stepped into hosting duties for “On The Record” for the first time on Tuesday and ended it by addressing Van Susteren’s departure.
Though there seems to be bad blood between Fox News and Van Susteren, given her husband’s comments Hume wished his former colleague well.
“I count Greta a friend and I’m sorry to see her go,” he said.
“All of us here certainly wish her well,” he continued. “She made a big contribution and we will miss her. In the meantime, I’ll try to carry on in the hopes her audience will stick with us.”
He then quipped “Don’t worry, I’ll only be here through the election.”
The question now is who will step into permanent hosting duties?
