We all remember the scream that rocked the 2004 Democratic presidential race, right?
Well, former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, once chairman of the Democratic National Committee, is at it again. This time he’s doing some kind of odd dance around Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.
Oh, and there’s pesky polling data showing American voters don’t see her as honest and trustworthy.
The Washington Post-ABC poll shows only 38 percent of those surveyed say Clinton is trustworthy and honest, while 59 percent say she is not. Two thirds of those polled say the former secretary of state is “too willing to bend the rules.”
In an interview Monday with MSNBC, Dean, who could be a candidate for Captain Obvious, said the GOP will “bore in on” those numbers” because “we’re in the middle of a presidential campaign” and have “nothing to talk about.”
“The reason those numbers are the way they are is because that’s all the Republicans talk about,” Dean told anchor Kate Snow. “And frankly, you all take them seriously.”
Dean suggested that since Clinton has been “cleared” by federal investigators on “the two things that were really serious,” he doesn’t know “why you even take any bother with these people when they talk about this kind of stuff.”
“This is craziness,” he said.
“The director of the FBI said she was truthful and there were no classified emails,” Dean said. “What more do you want?”
