What do Melania Trump and Twilight Sparkle of “My Little Pony” have in common? They both like to give inspirational speeches apparently.
Republican National Convention Communications Director Sean M. Spicer took allegations that Melania plagiarized First Lady Michelle Obama’s 2008 convention speech to another level by pointing out that her words were similar to that of Twilight Sparkle’s.
“Melania Trump said ‘The strength of your dreams and willingness to work for them,'” Spicer told CNN. “Twilight Sparkle from ‘My Little Pony’ said ‘This is your dream. Anything you can do in your dreams, you can do now.'”

Spicer noted the My Little Pony comparison to argue that Melania’s speech was based on values and inspiration, rather than phrases taken from past speeches.
Whatever the case, the My Little Pony comment set off the Twitter-sphere.
