After the shooting death of Philando Castile by a Minnesota police officer, several GoFundMe pages popped up claiming to be raising funds for Castile’s family.

One such page, set up by a friend of Castile’s supposed fiance Diamond “Lavish” Reynolds to support Reynolds and her daughter, has raised more than $57,000 to date.

But the fundraiser and Ms. Reynolds were slammed by Castile’s mother, Valerie Castile, on Sunday.

“I am so disgusted!! People are trying to capitalise (sic) on my son’s tragedy for personal gain through GoFundMe!!!” she wrote. “1st of all Philando Castile does not have children nor a fiancee, the account for the Philando Castile Family is through his Sister’s account Allysza Castile, so Please, if you want to donate go to that account the rest are bogus! ! Shame on You!!!”

Indeed, Philando’s relationship status on Facebook did read “single” which corroborates his mother’s post.

The page that Castile’s mother said is the legitimate fundraising account for the family has amassed slightly more than $71,000 to date.

Still a third GoFundMe page, which claims all funds will be donated to the Castile family, has raised $188,431.
