Actor Cuba Gooding Jr. is known for being friendly to law enforcement and it turns out that he had a connection to one of the five cops killed Thursday in Dallas.
A video-photographer asked the actor Friday if he had any words for the family of Patrick Zamarripa.
A five-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department and father of a 2-year-old girl, Zamarripa was one of five officers killed by a black man sympathetic to the Black Lives Matter movement. He was a Navy veteran who survived three tours in Iraq, only to be gunned down in his own country for being white.
“I cried today when I heard that,” an emotional Gooding Jr. said as he clasped his hands. “I cried, that’s all I’m saying.”
Not only had Gooding Jr. met Zamarripa, but he posed for a picture with the officer and his partner back in February.
“The great @cubagoodingjr. Thanx for taking the pic with my partner and I. Hope your stay in #Dallas was great sir!” the now-deceased officer (center) tweeted.
