Mitch McConnell won’t say it, but House Budget chair declares Trump is ‘absolutely’ qualified to be president

While Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell repeatedly danced around the question of whether Donald Trump is qualified to be president Sunday morning, another top-ranked Republican lawmaker had no trouble with the query.

U.S. Rep. Tom Price, chairman of the House Budget Committee, said the presumptive GOP nominee is “absolutely” qualified to be president, according to The Hill.

The Georgia lawmaker appeared Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and said the 2016 election is now about who can best lead the country.

“This is down to two individuals at this point and the question is, ‘Who is better to take this country forward?'” Price said. “And I think there’s no doubt about that at this point.”

He insisted the alternative — Hillary Clinton — would be a continuation of the failures of the Obama administration.

“If you want to codify into law all of the crazy rules and regulations that have been put in place by her appointments to the Supreme Court, then vote for Hillary Clinton,” Price said.

“If however, you want change,” he continued, “if you want government to actually work for the people, if you want the economy to get rolling, if you want to make certain that the government isn’t running your healthcare, if you want the government out of energy policy for your backyard, then you want Donald Trump.”
