Following last week’s horrific attack by an alligator that claimed the life of a two-year-old boy, reports allege that Disney World ignored warnings that guests were feeding alligators at the theme park and the areas along the lagoon where the young boy was killed.
Fox News reported:
Days after a two-year-old boy was killed by an alligator at Disney World, a shocking video has emerged, showing a Disney World employee fending off an alligator at one of the Magic Kingdom’s most popular attractions – Splash Mountain.
The video, which was apparently captured in 2009, was recently obtained by Inside Edition.
It shows the employee poke the alligator with a pole, attempting to force it back into the water.
The predator, however, appears determined to get on land, as tourists enjoy the ride mere feet away.
Inside Edition also reported that guests were allegedly known to frequently feed alligators in the same lagoon.
Twitchy.com reported that Trip Advisor posted a review from 2005 that warned of alligators in the man-made lagoon at Coronado Springs Resort:
I was pleased overall with this hotel. The rooms were very clean and had all of the essentials (iron, fridge, hangers, coffee, ect.) They have a man-made lake/pond that you can rent little boats/paddle boats on, but beware of alligator! We saw several 5ft and over gators, and the resort does not post this so watch out.
The company did take steps to protect guests from wildlife attacks over the past few days, to include adding signs.
Several videos that support the Inside Edition report are also making thew rounds on social media:
