Almost 250 GOP delegates are apparently involved in a coup to strip GOP nominee Donald Trump of the Republican nomination at the party’s convention.

In a conference call of about 1,000 anti-Trump Republicans, where nearly 250 of those party members were delegates, anti-Trump forces are looking to strategy and rule changes to keep Trump from getting the GOP nomination, according to the Hill.

About 1,000 Republicans nationwide participated in a conference call Sunday night discussing the effort to prevent Donald Trump from getting the Republican presidential nomination at the party’s convention next month, according to organizers.

The figure would represent a sharp rise from the roughly three dozen people who were said to have taken part in a similar call last week, according to CNN. News outlets were unable to independently confirm the number of people on the call.

Delegates are looking to change convention rules so that they can remain unbound to candidates, despite Trump receiving a record-number of votes and winning the vast majority of states in the Republican primary.

Insiders said the anti-Trump delegates are not pushing any particular candidate, they just want to be able to put their delegates behind anyone in the party and not be bound by primary election results.
