When it comes to excuses for being complicit in a terrorist attack the family, and former teacher, of Orlando shooter Omar Mateen‘s wife, Noor Salman, have raised the bar.
In a statement to ABC News, while declaring Salman to be “completely innocent and unaware of the attacks,” they gave this doozy of an excuse.
Salman was enrolled in special education classes in school and doesn’t understand “cause and effect.”
“Noor had difficulty with retention, she had difficulty with conceptualizing, understanding, all challenges to her,” her middle school teacher “Susan” told ABC News.
“She tried hard. She was very sweet.”
Salman was a “special day class student,” which meant she had special education teachers in every class she took.
Salman is currently being investigated by federal officials to determine if she had any involvement in the attack that claimed 49 lives last week.
