Despicable disciples from the controversial Westboro Baptist Church showed up in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday as the first of the 49 victims killed by a radicalized Muslim gunman was being laid to rest, but the City Beautiful was in NO MOOD to put up with their nonsense.
The so-called “Christians” forewarned of their dastardly intentions, as seen in this post from Twitter:

But hundreds of folks turned out to ensure that Westboro did not interrupt funeral services or otherwise add to the grief of family and friends of the victims of the Pulse nightclub attack.
There were even angels.
The GLBT Community Center of Central Florida, in conjuction with the American Theater in Orlando and the Orlando Shakespeare Theater, created large angel wings for supporters to wear to shield the grieving families from the Westboro hate group.

Westboro spokesman Steve Drain told USA Today they plan to protest at two of the victims’ funerals on Saturday.
“It’s not about that person, it’s about that whole societal phenomenon,” Drain said. “It’s never been OK to be gay and it’s never going to be OK to be gay, no matter how much the spirit of the times calls for the popularity of that sin.”
Calling their effort a “human chain,” supporters were determined to stand in Westboro’s way… here are additional images of their efforts from Twitter:
