A Disney vacation turned into horror for a family of four on vacation from Nebraska.

Just after 9 pm Tuesday the family’s two-year-old son was dragged into the water by an alligator at the Seven Seas Lagoon at Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, CNN reported.

He was wading near the edge of the lagoon when the attack occurred.

Despite the best efforts of the boy’s father to wrestle his son away from the jaws of the beast the child remains missing.

“The father actually went into the water to wrestle his son from the grips of the alligator,” Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said.

He noted that the chances of finding the child alive is unlikely.

“The sad reality of it is it’s been several hours and we’re not likely going to recover a live body,” he said.

Still he vowed to continue the search.

“We’re not leaving until we recover the child,” he said.

“We’re putting every effort into locating the child and trapping this alligator,” Officer Chad Weber said. “We’ll be here with them until there’s a resolution.”

Attacks of this kind are very rare and, according to Demings, here haven’t been any other alligator attacks reported in the area.

It’s been a terrible time for Orlando this past week with the murder of up and coming pop singer Christina Grimmie on Saturday and the horrific terror attack at Pulse nightclub on Sunday.

Wildlife officials confirmed Wednesday that they have already captured and euthanized four gators looking for the child, but none of those were the culprit.
