Donald Trump started the week with a blunt accusation about President Barack Obama, “He doesn’t get it or he gets it better than anyone understands. it’s one or the other.”
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee wasted no time in going after both Obama and Hillary Clinton for avoiding the term “radical Islam” in their public responses to Sunday’s deadly terrorist attack at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla., which left at least 50 dead and 53 injured.
Trump also questioned the president’s state of mind.
“We are led by a man that either is not tough, not smart or he’s got something else in mind,” he said on “Fox & Friends” early Monday. “People can’t believe it. People cannot, they cannot believe that President Obama is acting the way he acts and can’t even mention the words radical Islamic terrorism. There’s something going on. It’s inconceivable. There’s something going on.”

Trump said Sunday that Obama should “step down” for refusing to use the term, adding that Democratic rival Hillary Clinton should “get out of this race” if she won’t either.
“If we do not get tough and smart real fast, we are not going to have a country anymore,” Trump said in a statement, according to Fox News. “Because our leaders are weak, I said this was going to happen — and it is only going to get worse. I am trying to save lives and prevent the next terrorist attack. We can’t afford to be politically correct anymore.”
Both Obama and Clinton referred to the deadliest shooting in U.S. history as an “act of terror,” but neither made reference to radical Islam — the gunman, Omar Mateen, called 911 before the shooting to pledge his allegiance to ISIS and law enforcement sources told Fox News he shouted “Allahu Akbar” while engaging officers.
Obama and Clinton also labeled the attack an “act of hate,” in response to a gay nightclub being targeted.
Trump took to his familiar social media platform Sunday to also go after Democratic leadership.
“What has happened in Orlando is just the beginning. Our leadership is weak and ineffective. I called it and asked for the ban. Must be tough,” he posted on Twitter:
