Dolly Parton gets right down to the point when asked about transgender bathrooms

In the wake of major headliners like Bruce Springsteen, Maroon 5 and Pearl Jam cancelling previously scheduled North Carolina shows to protest the state’s transgender bathroom bill, it seems like every singer, comedian, and circus juggler is being asked to weigh in on the issue.

Dolly Parton, the 70-year-old reigning “Queen of Country Music,” recently lended support to the transgender community in a recent interview with CNN Money, saying everyone should give respect.

“I think everybody should be treated with respect,” the singer said in the video interview. “I don’t judge people and I try not to get too caught up in the controversy of things. I hope that everybody gets a chance to be who and what they are.”

Dolly, who also hasn’t cancelled any performances in the state, added, “I just know if I have to pee, I’m going to pee. I don’t care where it’s going to be.”

It’s a fine line, of course. Lean too far to the left by cancelling performances and actively campaigning, like Springsteen and others have done, and you risk alienating most Christians and much of mainstream America. Go too far to the right and you’ll certainly incur the wrath of every SJW in the country.

While many other genres have swung far left on the issue, several country stars, including Florida Georgia Line, Cam, Chris Janson, Scotty McCreery, and Dolly herself have chosen to honor their fans and obligations in the state.

It’s worth noting that Parton, who owns the Dollywood and Splash Country theme parks in Pigeon Forge, TN, has a bathroom policy that should please everyone, although the extreme leftists will undoubtedly stop at nothing until anyone can go in any restroom they choose. There are plenty of “family restrooms” with locked doors at those parks, but the ones labeled “men” and “women” are clearly marked for use only by biological sex.

Certainly, it’s important to have respect for everyone, but where is the respect for women and children who just want to use the bathroom without creeps hanging around?
