What harm can come from allowing men in women’s bathrooms?
That’s the familiar mantra of left wing businesses like Target and even the Obama administration who advised schools to allow children into whichever bathroom they prefer.
Reese Hartstirn, 33, was arrested after police said he followed a mother and child into a restroom, where they were separated by stalls at a popular deli.
He choked the 8-year-old, abc7 Chicago reported.
Her mother heard the girl scream and was able to grab her free while others detained Hartstirn until police arrived.
“We’re blessed to have a wonderful relationship with the Chicago Police Department,” Jason’s Deli said in a statement to abc 7. “Many of them are our customers and because of their connection to our deli, this unfortunate situation was handled very quickly. We’re proud of how our team members responded and thankful that we have the kind of customers that are willing to lend a hand in a difficult situation. We continue to work hard every day to make every customer happy.”
Hartstirn has been charged with aggravated kidnapping of a child, battery causing bodily harm and aggravated battery of a child.
He was later charged with aggravated assault of a peace officer after he took a swing at one during his booking, according to abc 7.
Patrons of the deli were startled by the news.
“It saddens me,” customer Kimberly Brown told abc 7 “I don’t get why people do things like this. I really wish I could understand it, but I don’t.”
“This is at a restaurant,” fellow patron Crystal Anderson added. “You want your kid to be able to go to a bathroom in a restaurant and feel safe and not be scared… and not worry about someone trying to abduct your kid.”
“You want to have the best world you can for your children,” she added. “And with people out here like that, you got to wonder what you can do to make it better.”
You can probably start by not allowing men into the women’s bathroom.
